Cake Ball Pops!

Cake Pops!

My mother-in-law, Phyllis, got all the stuff for Bakerella’s cake ball pops.  I was so excited because I’ve always wanted to try these, but wasn’t sure how successful I’d be {we all know my baking record}.  With Phyllis, Confectioner Extraordinaire, at the helm, we ended up with some FAB results!  I am already picturing pink and purple pops with conversation hearts for Valentine’s Day!

You will need to follow Bakerella’s recipe to make the cake balls.  It’s important to allow enough time to let the cake cool completely.  Then, you’ll add frosting to the cake as you make the balls.  You can use any cake mix or frosting, just make sure they are compatible.  You’ll fridge or freeze them to get them to hold together.  Then, you’ll melt chocolate {again, any kind: white, milk, dark, chips, almond bark, etc.} at half-speed in the micro. We found it was best to re-shape the balls into proper-shaped balls after pulling them back out of the fridge/freezer.  From, there, you dip and decorate to your heart’s content!

You can use cookie cutters to make shapes instead of balls, but make sure your cake balls are big enough!

Cake balls. We found that re-rolling them after popping them out of the freezer made them much more symmetrical.

Melted chocolate: we used dark and pink- and purple- colored milk chocolate.

Toppings.

You can use a toothpick, a lollipop stick, or even the base of a fork to get the cake balls covered in chocolate.

Aren't they gorgeous?!

A great Christmas gift!

Emily those look amazing!! I tried making oreo balls (same concept) but I couldn’t get them to dip in the chocolate as pretty as you did. Maybe the key is putting them in the fridge/freezer and then reshaping them. Great job…and I love the step by step.
