English Toffee {& How to Make it!}

This is a great recipe for the holidays- I make this, pralines, and shortbread to give as affordable, but thoughtful gifts for Christmas.  It works really well for teacher gifts, too!

This is the toffee before it has been broken.

English Toffee

  • 1 c sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 5 T water
  • 2 c pecans
  • 3 Hershey bars, broken into pieces

Have a cookie sheet greased with Pam/Flora on the side with the pecans spread out on it.

Mix and boil the sugar, butter, and water until t browns, around 310 degrees F.

Pour the hot mixture onto the pecans and immediately lay the Hershey bars on top of the hot mixture.  When melted, spread it with a knife, then let it cool.  Use a sharp knife to break it apart into pieces to serve.

    I love this recipe and make it every year for my bosses at work for Christmas. They all really like it. I always have to make it for the Christmas party at church too, the ladies get upset if I don’t:) Can’t wait to see you guys after Christmas!

    Mmmm…. we love English toffee. But this year both my kids have braces so I’m not sure I am going to make any.
