Back on the ranch

As for me, I have been keeping busy.  I bet you didn’t know that I write for 4 different blogs??  I didn’t think so.  Well, this is the only one I attach my name to directly, so I’ll leave you in suspense.  It’s not really that exciting, I promise.  :)  I just work online and blogging is one of the ways I do it.  In fact, a good friend recently asked me, kind of in confusion, “So, what is your creative outlet?”  I was stunned.  First, I wasn’t aware you had to have one.  Second, it seems obvious to me- I cook and I post about 12 times a week from 4 different perspectives.  I think that’ll do me.  ;)

I’m also trying to teach letters to Rebekah, who is all about it if a craft is involved.  I am just working on basic recognition right now.  A friend sent me this alphabet link, which is chock-full of ideas.  We loved the butterfly online puzzle, by the way.  It’s all free, so no reason not to tinker around with it.  I’ll let you know how our very informal “lessons” go.  Mostly, I want to see how she learns when she’s not that motivated (as is the case with letters and numbers) and secondly, I am trying to spend one-on-one time with her doing something she does like- crafts.

I hope to get some pictures up soon!  Still looking for a better camera, so not as many as I’d like, but I do have a few.  I’ll get my IT guy on it when he comes home for lunch.

Bye, y’all!!

Fun, free learning activities on line!! Make it fun and no pressure and she will learn and enjoy. Feels like spring in Victoria. Redbud trees are blooming, ash trees are budding, people are out working in their yards. I hope to do that during spring break in two weeks.

Yea that spring break is on the horizon for you!!

Emily! I love your new blog. I keep meaning to really tell you that but its great! I do menu planning for us on Sundays and go to the grocery store on Sunday or Monday. I only go to the store/buy groceries once a week. I like to see what we have in our pantry/fridge before deciding what meals will be. It’s been the greatest plan and we seem to always have what we need on hand. I’ve been doing the “grocery game” (www.thegrocerygame.com) for about 2 years and love it. I never use all our grocery budget…even wil a baby. :) Anyway, all that to say, I love reading your menu plan Mondays. It gives me some good ideas. Because of our schedules I only plan dinners but always have things on hand for lunch on the days that Jason comes home and doesn’t have a lunch appointment (and since I work 2 days I week I bring my lunch to work, unless meeting a friend). The only day that we pick up fast(er) food/drive through is Sundays after church (unless we go to lunch with someone from church). Anyway, way more info that you probably need but I find it so interesting to read how to plan/schedule you days/life. :) We seem to have a lot of the same personality in that reguard and I admire your ideas for teaching R and L and spending time with them at home and teaching them. That’s priceless! You are one heck of a wife and momma!

I should have re-read it before I posted…that one line at the bottom should read “I find it so interesting to read how you plan/schedule your days/life.”

Carley- THANK YOU for a great comment. :) I needed that. I feel so on the run all the time, that I have actually had to plan time for the kids. That is terrible. So, we are trying to take a break from over-planning right now.

I definitely have enjoyed the recipes you’ve sent my way, so that’s win-win for sure.

    Have a great day!

Hey again. Thanks for your post on my blog. I have just been reading up on that. I am tired of jarred food and had already decided that I didn’t want to buy any more when I run out this time. However, I wasn’t sure how to give him a variety of food/taste. I really want him to be able to eat what we eat someday….make one meal for the family and that’s what we all get kind of thing. I think he’s getting bored with jarred food anyway. I just thought it was easier said than done but when I read how well your kids eat it makes me excited. So, I’d love to talk to you more about that. We can email if its easier. Do you really just blend exactly what we make and feed it to him? I’m assuming it would save in the fridge like ours do for leftovers for him too? Someone else mentioned that they had one the blending of the family meal wtih her 3rd and wished she had done it with her other 2. So it had me thinking…and then you mentioned it. :) Thanks for the advice. I’m all for it!

Oh, here’s our newest favorite recipe…I don’t think I have given you this one?

  8. Am I reading that right that you get paid to blog?! Wouldn’t that be the greatest thing ever! I have wished multiple times to have my life turn out like Julie in Julie and Julia where someone would discover my blog and want to make a movie out of it! HA HA HA!

  9. Miss Mommy says:

Yes- not on my own, but for a white noise company. :) I agree- would LOVE to have a life like Julie and Julia!!!!!

  10. Miss Mommy says:

Yes- blend what you’re eating. As long as you think he is not going to be allergic to anything (not probable), just blend it all up. I, too, wish I had done more of this with both kids. This was especially useful for Luke b/c I realized how much he loved soup when I blended it for him. It’s super-easy. I actually have a hand blender (aka stick blender, aka immersion blender) that makes it really fast.

  11. carley stevenson says:

Awesome! Thanks for the tip. I have a little mini blender so it should be easy. I’m going to try this tomorrow for sure! I’ll let you know. :)

  12. Here’s another fun learning site for all (preschool+) ages..

  13. Andrea G says:

So what are the other 2 blogs? This one, the work one, and ???? I was expecting links :)

  14. Miss Mommy says:

I do 3 blogs for other people- 2 white noise ones and 1 other one. I am working on increasing readership on all 4, but my white noise ones are doing really well. :)

  15. Miss Mommy says:

That does look fun, Bec! Thanks.
