My fab photog friend, RO, snapped these fun pics the other night when they had us over for dinner. I love her ability to catch the kids mid-moment. I love these silly shots- especially Luke’s sweet face and Rebekah’s hilarious expressions.
You just got a glimpse of my awesome swimming/bed head. Not too sad it was such a tiny view.
Well, folks, I am still recovering from yesterday. It was a full-throttle day, and for some reason, a very disobedient/fussy one for Rebekah. It started off well with another dry pull-up (yea!), but some combination of being 3 1/2 and very tired kicked in and the consequences were severe. By the end of the day, I was pretty worn out and finally sent her to her room after a spanking. She was sobbing from sheer exhaustion, I think, and when she quieted, I called her down. Rebekah came down, gave me a wonderful hug, and asked for forgiveness without me prompting her. I was amazed and so blessed. I will ask for your prayers, though. As great as “skewel” has been, whether correlated or not, she is waking at 6:30am every morning instead of well past 7. This seems to be taking its toll. I actually think it’s more of a result of nighttime potty-training- she gets up to potty and then can’t get back to sleep (“Daddy, I keep trying to sleep but my eyes keep coming open”). It’s not a huge deal, but her behavior is killing me. She’s still an amazing little girl, but right now it’s a battle of wills- not really, it’s just more tears and fussiness. Pray that I can be patient and parent with wisdom.
Luke continues to bless us with lots and lots and lots of “I yuv you!”s and he even adds “Too!” at the end sometimes. Sweet boy. He has his ups and downs, too, but in general is very happy and chatty. I am seeing how empowered he feels as we understand him more and more. He’s definitely in the labeling stage- he defines what we pass “Light! Dog! Gecka! Baby!” – so not original speech or anything, but still wonderful.
We leave for Paris in a week- we’re pretty excited. If you have any advice, especially pertaining to fun things to do, please leave a comment.

When you go to Paris, you have to get a crepe! They sell them on the streets pretty much everywhere, with any kind of filling you could imagine. My friend Katie ate one for every meal when we were there, just to see if she could.
One of my favorite things was the walking Tour we did. It was FREE, and given by American college students. It was four hours long, though, so prob. not the best for kids, but you can still check them out at http://www.NewEuropeTours.com.
Have a blast!!!
Cheers for the shoutout
Thanks for the fun times! Wish I had Paris advice….but alas, I don’t.
Love the new photos – my favorite is the first of Luke! I’m going to send you Peggy Smitthart’s email address in case you want to ask her for suggestions. I know you’ll have a great week!
What great pics! Lukes eyes are amazing!
I love those blues.
