Heidlberg & Trier

I will elaborate more with pics from home, but I thought I’d go ahead and write a bit. Germany in the fall is breath-taking. Yesterday, we went to Heidlberg (about an hour away). It is gorgeous. Scottish weather, tho- cold and rainy. Fortunately we had the right clothes and really enjoyed our time there. I tried to nap Luke in the am (his favorite nap most days) and he had none of it. So, we grabbed him and bless him, he slept in the car. Love that boy. He amazes me every day. Actually, before he slept, he and rebekah played a lot of made-up games together, most of which included him mimicking her and them throwing a washcloth (his special lovey) back and forth and Luke cheekily saying, “Uh oh!” Darling.

Once again, I was amazed with how well the kids did, and especially Luke. Rebekah is used to not sleeping during the day and functioning, but sweet Luke is not. So, I was shocked as anbody that a 30-minute nap tided him over for the entire day! Today, Luke woke us all up at 6:30 and after trying to coax them both back to sleep, we threw in the towel! :) We had a leisurely morning with homemade breakfasts and enjoyed just hanging out. Luke did take a good morning nap and we hit the road for Trier upon his rousing. Onto Trier- it was also an hour away, but in another direction, and was also lovely. We went to the largest throne room still around, as well as the Roman baths (very confusing to Rebekah) and other fun things I’ll remember more with pics. :) Luke sat in the stroller the whole time and did great again! We came “home” and Scott, Linny, and Sarah treated us to a fabulous German dinner at their favorite restaurant. We got home to get the kids in bed and, unfortunately, the bed times for Luke have been tough. So unusual- he is currently sobbing b/c he is sooo tired. :(

Tomorrow we will go to church on base and eat out. Not sure about the rest of the day or the days after. I think we have some tentative plans for a dinosaur park and a pumpkin patch- as good of sports as the kids have been, they deserve some outings just for them!
