Iowa City (& some cute kids)

They are predicting a pretty bad flood for IC this week. Our church parking lot and surrounding area are already flooded and more is coming, in addition to releasing dam water. Yikes! Back in ’93 they had a pretty bad one- I think 6 feet on the church wall- this year’s is predicted to be worse. See Carrie Sterner’s blog for more flood info. (it’s on my links)

Rebekah’s conversation (all from the past few days):

Mamama and Grandi in Texas…see them in couple weeks!

Pink….kinda purple.

Yellow…kinda orange.

Head is sick (she has a head cold).

Luke’s sweatshirt! (his swaddle blanket)

Paci in! (She is the paci patrol)

He spit it out (referring to paci, of course).

Luke’s crying…he’s okay, Mama.

He spit up a little bit.

Bekah spilled a little bit.

Did you hit him? (meaning, yes, she just did)

Right now she is chatting in her bed: Pray decorations…okay! Pray Grace…okay! Pray zebra…okay!…..

I took her in to see the doctor on Friday- thought she had strep. We left Luke with Josh- as I coaxed her to walk in, she wouldn’t budge from her station by the minivan. I was perplexed until she said “Get Baby Luke?” Again, she is more on top of it than I am!

This is our church’s parking lot…

Off Dubuque, the main road into town- it’s the green area outside our church…

Dubuque- the main road is closed.

Church members making and placing sandbags at the church…

A sweet little chapel at which Josh officiated a wedding last night.

Sweet Luke this morning- seemed happier today ad not as fussy! (maybe b/c he slept from 10:30pm-5:15am!)

Always game to play with her brother!

I am smitten with this yard!!! It is a a couple’s from the church- she is from South Africa and loves to garden. This is the fenced-in area right behind the house. Then, the rest of the property slopes up- it is AMAZING!!!!! I am dying to live there!

My favorite (besides of course “Mamama and Grandi in Texas – see them couple weeks”), is “Did you hit him?” She’s priceless!

I’m so glad that Luke has been sleeping longer stretches and night as well as seeming happier!

    Wow! The flooding is incredible!

    Hey Em,
Just wanted you to know that I stole a couple of your flood pics for printing…hope you don’t mind. Stay dry!

Wow..I can’t believe the amount of water. I hope the house isn’t in any danger of getting flooded.

I guess you are in a packing process also since y’all are fixin’ to move. I feel your pain!

LOVE the new header photo. Luke is getting to be so big!!! I am absolutely jealous of Matt getting to meet him and hold him before I did. I just have to see him soon and have him smile at me. (I hope, I hope!!!) Love to you all.

P.S. Matty loved making friends with Rebekah. He said playing with her reminded him of playing with his own precious girls. LOVE that, too. ;)

Hey, thanks for your sweet comments! We are thrilled with our girl…and can’t wait to meet her!

Know that we are praying for y’all as you pack and weather the storms up that way. Y’all take care!
