Malone family fun week

Since Josh is off this week, we decided to use the kids’ awake time for Malone Family Fun Week. We wanted to explore close places and see what kinds of things the kids would enjoy.

Day 1: revisit the beach

Since the beach was such a big hit, we felt Luke was really missing out seeing as how he didn’t get to go last time. So, on another glorious day, we all went!

Note how devotedly Luke looks at his big sister! He ADORES her big time! Honestly, never thought I’d say it and mean it, but it’s mutual- she loves him, too.

Love all the hand-holding and bonding time. Luke and I had some fun times, too.

Day 2: The Satrosphere

This is a children’s science museum. Not as good as the Children’s Museums in the States, but my 3 kids, I mean my TWO kids, had a ball. Seriously, Josh is a big kid- he and Rebes explored EVERYTHING! I had to remind him to keep his eye on her (we were the only ones there) instead of playing! ;)

Luke is very much into his feet these days- thought I’d make it more of a challenge with camo…

This exhibit was hysterical- you watched the sheep eat, pee, and poop. Definitely Rebekah’s VERY FAVORITE exhibit.

Day 3: Banchory

Today we headed out to Banchory- a quaint and sweet town about 20 miles away. Sadly 20 miles means 45 minutes of driving. We had a great lunch at Dudley’s and the kids did not fuss at all! Even tho we kept them both out and awake way later than usual, they did great!! Luke still took his 3rd nap, too (currently)…bless his sleepy heart- takes after his mama…

Did I mention he was like 4 times the size of his infant seat, so we bumped him up to his big boy seat? We weighed him on the luggage scale at the airport and he was 19 pounds. The weight to change front-facing here is 18 lbs, so we went for it. He really seems to like it…I LOVE seeing them both!! Plus, R enjoyed having a playmate, who giggled at her quite a bit just today. In fact, R said, “He’s too far away (grabbing his hand)…Can we scoot him over next to me?”

Wanted you to be able to window shop with us…

These are my parents’ dishes, so I wanted them to see!

As usual, R loves benches and steps…

Love how they squat and walk alike. Rebekah is alllllll Malone.

R has been cracking us up:

Can we just pop out there and come right back? (referring to revisiting the museum)

Flipping thru a catalog, “Here, let me show you what I want for my birthday,” (in July) pointing at various princess items. “Lukey wants this,” still pointing at princess items.

(knowing she’s not supposed to pick the scab in her ear that she has from picking at her ear) “I just pick my ear at bed in my room and no one tells me not to pick my ear.” Fair enough.

“I want to walk because I don’t want your back to hurt, Mommy.” I think I’ll carry you forever with that attitude, sweetheart.

“Shall we read this book?” Upon losing something, “Shall we walk around and look for it?”

Praise the Lord for a special family fun week! The beach would be my favorite :)

I LOVE the picture of you… love the earring and you look so good in the red color!

The “shall” is cracking me up and of course Luke wants princess items, just like how Elizabeth wants tools and cars for her birthday.

  2. Mary says:

I agree–great picture of you! R blows my mind what she knows/rationalizes. It’s amazing. Signing her up for med school…

Glad you guys had a good week! It looks just beautiful there–just like you think it would look! I’m glad you switched Luke around–it’s great to see them AND Lord knows he loves being able to see out of the car!

What can I possibly say about this latest post. I really do love so many things about it. First, that you even had a Malone Family Fun Week. Can I just say how much that sounds like one Josh Malone I know? Also, sounds similar to Birthday Week. Is it just me?

Also, loved the places you took them. you have inspired me to do so around B/CS although I might be a bit more limited. Of course, Houston is an option. :)

Second, loved the window shopping. It made me miss France (Europe in general). I believe I left part of my heart there. I actually recognized the flowers, mostly because I would love to have some in my own yard. They are a lovely winter flower called Cyclamen. They come in pink, red, white, and maybe purple (not so sure about that one).

P.S.S. Your hair grows FAST! I mean FAST!! I just got got mine cut by the way. It doesn’t look the same as in my new header pic. It’s shorter and a little angled at the bottom. Anywho…

I love the photo of you but that is not surprising!

I’m so glad the 4 of you are having some fun times together this week – much needed relaxation for you.

My favorite of Rebekah’s lines is the one about her picking her ear in bed – she’s a mess!

So glad Luke faces the front now – as you said nice for both of you!

  6. Carrie says:

I am so glad you guys got to out exploring. It should be an adventure to be enjoyed and taken in.

Diddo Andrea, you and Luke, great great picture of you both!

You should blow up one of those pictures of R and J together, love them!

Hearing your continued stories about what Rebekah is saying makes me long to spend time together! Love you guys.

I love all the pictures and comments about your great family week. Can’t wait to see some of these sites in the summer! Love all of Bekah’s comments – too cute. Luke is getting so big, so glad he faces forward now. He should enjoy trips in the car more.
