Rebekah’s Sports Day

On Wednesday, Rebekah had her first P1 Sports Day.  Since London is hosting the Summer Olympics, Sunnybank had an Olympics theme, and each child was on a team that represented a country.  Sadly, no US team, but Rebekah did get Spain.  One of the main tenets of the play-based system here is a total lack of passivity, meaning every child should be actively participating at all times.  Thus, they did a great job of stations and keeping the kids moving.  All the kids seemed to really enjoy it.  I, of course, made a lot of preparations to attend during Lizzie’s nap time, only to have my battery die because I forgot to charge it.  Oh well- you get the idea of how it went…Rebekah was a burst of colour on a grey, cold, Aberdeen day.  That pretty much sums it up!

Many thanks to Michelle for the best pics and for running with my daughter when I left!

I loved Lizzie’s little hands and toes here…I have already put away this seat because she is crazy-good at flinging herself out of it.  Sigh.  However, she is a pretty firm sitter most of the time, so we don’t really need it.  Lizzie is an amazing eater- so much so that nursing is not her preference anymore.  The more grown-up and textured the food, the better!  Meal time is usually pretty happy for her unless it’s not coming fast enough!  She’s hilarious.  Today was one of the first times I heard her chattering in her bed instead of crying when she woke up after a nap.  Regardless, she almost always just lights up when she hears the door open and sees a loved face.  She is definitely fun to feed, hold, and get up!  Definitely feisty, but such a doll.

YEAH Bekah for representing Spain – too bad there was no USA!! I’m sure she enjoyed every bit of the outdoor activities. What darling little feet!! Just can’t wait to kiss each little toe. Two weeks from today you’ll be heading into your last weekend there. WE ARE COUNTING and can’t wait. I bet Lizzie is starting to scoot around while in Texas!

  2. Loved all the photos but want to know where the one is of her clearing the hurdle? That should be added as a great action shot.(o: With the American kids in the school, you’d have thought that America would have been included in the Sport’s Day. Lizzie’s hands and toes are adorable – getting excited to see all of you in Dallas!

Love Bekah’s jump! Hope she got some sports genes from the McCord side. Ours is pretty much lacking on the Malone side!! Nobody in our family did much in the sports area of life.

  4. Love the added sports shots! Looked yesterday and today so decided to let you know.(o:
