Don’t forget my headband give-away!
A Fun Detour
I could say that we planned on going to Storybook Glen yesterday as a fun surprise for the kids, and specifically Rebekah who has been begging for it for months, but in all honesty we were headed to Dunnottar Castle and on the way Josh asked me if I had the passes in my wallet….um…oops. They usually are, I just forgot to bring my wallet. So, as I was turning around, Josh noticed the sign for Storybook Glen…and we went. It was a gorgeous day, which made the £18 family price tag a little more tolerable. We really enjoyed our trip, though Luke was out of sorts the first half of the morning. (We ended up waking him up from a 3-hour nap later that afternoon, so I’d say he was tuckered.) Regardless, we had a great time and enjoyed being together. :)
Tips for Storybook Glen
- It’s almost £6 per adult and £4 per child (under 1′s are free). So it was over £18 for our family. Just so you know. A family season pass of £60…yikes!
- While I love the play area in the cafe, I don’t love the food. I recommend packing a picnic you can eat on the grounds or at a picnic table out front (just not in the restaurant). Though the great play area inside for the kids is ideal during a rainy spell or if you wanna grab a cuppa.
- The gift shop is also extensive and very fun! We have found several gifts there.
- The kids love the farm animals on site, including an authentic Highland cow, goats, an enormous pig, and bunnies.
- Luke loved seeing Thomas the Tank Engine, Postman Pat, and Fireman Sam, while Rebekah was enthralled with all the different outdoor play areas and slides. There are literally dozens of character statues, probably 5-10 bridges over ponds or creeks, 5 or so slides, and 5 or so swing sets or climbing structures, not to mention little houses and things they can go in.

I have fond memories of Storybook Glenn from last summer. So glad you got there with the whole family. Looks like everyone enjoyed it. Love the smile on Luke in the heli, Bekah’s excited smiles, and family togetherness time.
I remember that being such a fun day with you and the kids! I love the smiles and think Luke’s cheese smile is hilarious!! Looks like a fun day for the Malones!
What a GREAT place! The Highland cow is so cute, I don’t think I have seen one before!
Wow! That place looks great. I was not sure from the flyers if it was something my kids would like, but now I know they would love it. Thanks.
Christy- I thought of your kids specifically several times- esp around Thomas, Postman Pat, and Fireman Sam! Sine it’s pricey it might be better to go w/o Darren- Rachel and Mercy want to go so maybe y’all could do it together sometime…?
