On Saturday, we had the privilege of visiting our friends in Banchory {about 40 minutes inland} and having a BBQ and then an hour’s {kid-friendly} hike around the area. Our kids love the 3 kids there, plus most of our really good friends were able to come, too! It was a great way to spend an afternoon and evening, and it was anticipated by everyone all week! Here are a few shots of the hike. {Surprisingly, the kids walked on their own most of the time!}
Birthday Party Play Group
Sweet Shemaya in our play group turned 3, and we got to have a fun birthday party last week! Rachel, Christy, and I decorated Christy’s flat for the shin-dig, and the birthday boy’s mom, Shalle, made an incredible train cake for him. Shalle is from the States, but her husband is Dutch, and they recently lived in Israel. The boys have Hebrew names and Shalle wants them to know their heritage. So, Shalle even brought a craft: Dutch windmills!
We love our Scotland Friends!
One of the things we love about our home here in Scotland is the wonderful friends we have made and the people who love on us and our kids and give us a reason to celebrate! Just today, a sweet girl from church took Rebekah and a friend out to lunch and to the “cinema”! Rebekah had so.much.fun!!! Once again, we just feel so blessed by our friends and church family. Thus, I am including some of my favorite snapshots of the week.
Time with Our Best Friends!
BFFs!
This trip home, Josh and I got to visit with our best friends twice! The first time was back in November. Josh and Matt both attended ETS, and the kids and I drove to College Station to see Shannon and their 3 kids at the same time. It was a blast to get to spend the night with Shannie and kids. But, we decided that we needed time as whole families, as well! So, sweet Shannon coordinated a drive to Josh’s family’s house on New Year’s day and we spent the day together. We loved it and love having such wonderful best friends!
{Hey, fyi, Shannon is a wonderful photographer in the College Station area- so if you’re looking for some great shots, make sure to check her out!}
Somehow I missed snapping a pic of Abigail (Luke’s age!). Bummer. So, I stole this from her personal blog. ;)
Halloween Play Group & Festivities
One of my favorite things about Rachel Nigh is her ability to make things fun. Not only is she an amazing friend, she is a great hostess who makes you feel warm and welcome no matter what. Part of that is hosting the best play groups and get-togethers. My kids LOVE going to Miss Rachel’s house because there’s always something fun to get into. And, sure enough, she hosts wonderful holiday play groups. At Easter, we decorated eggs and this week it was pumpkins, of course. I was amazed at how well her house was already decorated.
