My precious boy

Luke was not to be left out. He is jabbering all the time now, mimicking everything! He doesn’t always articulate that clearly, but his inflections are usually spot-on. My favorite here is “I’m comin’!” Who knows how many times I say that? (I guess Luke does). Oh- he had just gotten up form a good nap and was quite happy to eat chocolate chips in his sleepy pants. I didn’t have the heart to wrangle him back into his jeans just yet. We were having a sweet time just us before we picked up big sis.

This one is good for buh-bye and see ya! Luke likes to pretend he going places by saying “Buh-bye! See ya!” and closing doors, only to reappear moments later with a sweet “Hallow!” Did I mention I am smitten?? Anyway, Luke LOVES watching himself on this and will repeat every word I ask for as he delightedly sees his computer self do it, too. Love this age. A lot.

Rebekah’s new favorite song (now you can hear it!)

This is a current fave at our house right now. I had to quit filming due to repeated camerawoman attacks by her offspring…seriously you’d think they’d never seen a camera.

Luke is also quite a little songbird. He hums grunts Jingle Bells very nicely, even throwing in the “hey!” with gusto most of the time.  He also stops everything at church play group when song time starts, toddling around, clapping and grinning.  On the way home from play grp yesterday, Luke was requesting Jingle Bells, which was nice since it was in fact pouring snow.  We obliged him, then Rebekah asked for more “snowy” songs, such as Mary had a little lamb (wose fleece was white as SNOW).

Rebekah also told me that I am “mommier” than she is, but when she is bigger, she’ll have a daughter too (possibly named Rebekah or Lucy Bell since Luke is already my son and can’t be her daughter, which was quite a bummer for her), thus making her mommier than I.  Okay.  Glad that’s settled.

Luke is talking a lot now- and other people even understand him, too!  His new phrases:

Hep!  (Help!)

Here go!  (usually giving me food he doesn’t want)

Share, Gecka!  (bet you can guess that one)

Unt sum.  (Want some)

Gecka bye bye (Rebekah went bye bye)

Unt go!  (I want to go)

Gecka skew.  (Bekah is at school)

Chair. (I want to be in my chair (preferably eating))

Ock!  Ock!  (Walk!)

Moomie (movie- I get this at least 10 times every hour we’re home)

Hold you!  (my all-time fave with both kids, and I ALWAYS say yes)

He also recognizes our friends and gets really excited to say their names!  Even though he often fusses upon waking, I think it’s usually due to a dark and boring room, not to dying to be released fro the confines of the crib.  A couple times recently, I have just flipped the switch in the hall for the stairs leading up to the loft and he has been content to wait 15 more minutes.  Interestingly, it takes some convincing to actually get him out of bed (remember, this is my kid who asks for his nap and giggles when you lay him down)- he likes to roll around and play for a while.  Several times this week, I have asked him if he is ready to get up (No! which sounds like nuh! with a determined shake of the head).  Do you want a snack?  Nuh.  Do you want to see your friends?  He immediately drops his cloth and paci and stands up, arms outreached.  Maybe he is a bit more social than I thought.  Yea!  he has to be to survive in this family and not be miserable.

His play is also changing- lots more playing with things rather than chewing them.  He recognizes R’s dolls and calls them by name.  He will always kiss them on command, and I love it.  He and Rebekah play really well together and do room time together every day quite happily, too.  He definitely is at the stage (possibly never-ending if I remember correctly) of wanting to do everything Rebekah is doing.

Well, happy weekend!
