The house

The kids on the way to the house in Germany.

The house is on the second floor- above a pharmacy.

It is the one on the right with all the windows- that is their floor and is the winter garden…

The inside of the winter garden- my favorite!

They also had a patio.

The living room/dining room that runs adjacent to the window garden (which is to the right)

This is their fire place- gorgeous!!

The house is kind of a 7-shape- this is the long part of the 7- the kitchen is to the right, the living/dining/garden is behind you (the long base of the 7, I guess), and their is a half-bath and the Scott and Linny’s bedroom on the right ahead of you. The door straight ahead is a huge master bathroom.

The kitchen (there is a laundry room and pantry off it to the left)

The second hallway- the top part of the 7. Our room is directly on the left (across from the blue chair) and next to it is Sarah’s room. The door you see is another huge bathroom and next to it (you can barely see a wood door frame) is Scott’s office. We ended up using all these rooms at various times to sleep the kids. :)

Our room- the door opens onto the patio. All the windows/glass doors had the coolest built-in shades that you could close completely for total dark or crack for some light or pull totally up for openness. Wow.

Luke’s pack n play by our bed- he got kicked out after 3 nights :) and either was in a bathroom or Scott’s office.

R’s pallet at the edge of our room. She was mostly okay with us- she did wake up more than usual, but wasn’t really crying or upset- each morning just got earlier and earlier.

Our bathroom (and Luke’s bedroom some nights)

I really loved this house. After living in the UK for a year, I really appreciate homey places and space! We really loved our time here and are so, so appreciative to the Gardner family for being so hospitable and flexible with our family’s needs.

I will post more of our trip later! By the way, we got back at 1 am last night after a 3 1/2 hr drive from Glasgow. We had driven an hour to get to the airport and then flew there- so it was a long night! Both kids look a little rough this morning. :)

Fun to see the house in Germany. I'm sure it was a nice break from Aberdeen. Were you able to buy some American products to bring home? I know your space was limited. Thankful you're home safely. Back in your own beds and routine.

I agree with you! We loved all the space when we visited my cousin and his wife. Wish the Scottish were so generous with their living spaces!
