The rest of Edinburgh

I won’t lie- this has a lot of pics…like maybe 48…just guessing. :) I don’t have comments for all, just the ones I wanted to point out. Sorry.

This is the divinity school of the Uni there.

The Royal Mile is an uphill stretch, starting with Holyrood Palace and ending at Edinburgh Castle. There are lots of restaurants, novelty stores, and sights in between.

This is the National Gallery- many of the museums are free (awesome), and this one had 2 Monets!

The train tracks at Waverly Station, where we rode in. We called Rebekah and she asked if the train was “bus-y”? (translated, like a bus?) I laughed pretty hard, and it made me miss them even more.

St. Giles Cathedral- John Knox ministered here.

John Knox’s house, now a museum and storytelling center. (If you’re like me and fairly ignorant, :) John Knox is to the Presbyterians what Martin Luther was to Protestants).

The Holyrood Palace -it was 14 pounds and we decided to forego. Did I mention we like to eat? We’d rather eat well then see everything… :)

Across the road is the Scottish Parliament. It’s a pretty modern building, so it’s a little out of place.

Another part of campus.

This was inside a museum- look how complicated the lock was!

A guillotine.

These were from the Roof terrace of the same museum- great view!

This was at Greyfriar’s. I think it was where the Covenanters signed their proclamation…google it. :)

This is Greyfriar’s Bobby- the dog that sat on his master’s grave for 6 years until he himself died at 16 years old.

The Writer’s Museum- Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns, and Robert Louis Stevenson were all Scots! Bonus if you know what they wrote!

I am so glad you had such a good time in Edinburgh…. and got a little one on one with your man! Marc and I loved Edinburgh and the castle was our favorite too. Everything was so wonderful but we could have done without the stress of driving aound a rented car! :)
