Stirling Castle

One more castle to see…

After 2 years of living in Scotland, we’ve hit a lot of the castles we’ve wanted to see, but Stirling Castle was still on the list.  It’s about 2 1/2 hours away, and we chose a perfectly lovely day to go, if I say so myself!  Similar to Edinburgh Castle, Stirling is set on a big hill and is a mini-city with lots of cool nooks and crannies.  We really enjoyed it, though Rebekah thought “it looked like a bunch of stores” {????} more than a castle.  Hmmm.  Anyway, I loved watching Rebekah and Luke climb everything in sight and have such a good time roaming.

Luke was very excited about the "movie" about the kitchen

Climbing

At the summit

Josh looked up a great little place called Henderson’s Bistro we would highly recommend for lunch!

Josh loved his steak pie

The city itself was also very charming and worth a few hours of roaming.  *Plus, on the way home, we hit Doune Castle where they filmed parts of Monty Python and the Holy Grail!  Pics coming in the next few days!

  2. Wow! Looks great! Everything was covered in scaffolding when we were there. And we never found the kitchens! We might have to go back. =)

  3. Looks like such a fun day! One day you’ll think back on your current ability to get in the car and drive to multiple castles. (o: I’ve had a number of fun days with you and your family looking a different castles from ruins to finished out with furniture.
    Love you Em,

  4. Love it!! Your kids are adorable btw. Luke is ALL BOY. He’s just got that guilty look on his face. I love the pic of Rebes hugging on her Daddy. Pretty much a perfect day. Will you dare to replicated the steak pot pie?!? Sounds kind of major.
